Don't Ask Me About My Screentime ~Dropping Links vol. 8~
Okay let’s just get it out in the open: once again, weeks have passed, and no newsletter was sent. I’m human! And busy! Do you know how much new TV came out last week???
Anywho, I’m full to the gills with links today, and won’t dally any longer. Stay tuned toward the end for a TikTok-specific link dump, because gatekeeping my favorites folder benefits NO ONE.
Things That Happened™️
I JUST finished crying over all of these emotional NYC Marathon videos in time to fully delve into the midterm elections (and subsequent digital content regarding it). Kicking it off strongly with this Voting Ballot TikTok from the woman who gave us the Chicken Salad TikTok just a few weeks prior. Iconic turnaround time for the good of democracy! We stan! While I won’t drone on more about the election (because I’m comically underinformed) I would be REMISS not to mention the absolutely incredible work of Jon Fetterman’s Social Team. It Me!!!!
While trying to adjust to the yearly chaos that is Daylight Savings (Ed Markey speaks for us all), I spent my midnight hours (read: 5pm) giggling over the absolute dumpster fire that is Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. Thankfully, John Green rounded up the greatest use cases for the $8 verification failure, so I don’t have to! If you’re more interested in the innerworkings of this Twitter disaster, if you haven’t been following @tweetsbyparker, what have you been doing???
In celebrity brand collaboration news, we have been blessed by two powerhouse collabs – a Harry Styles x Gucci collection launch, and a newly iconic Daniel Craig x Taika Waititi ad for Belvedere. We don’t apologize for being a 30 year old Harry Styles fan in this house, but I simply must remark that Craig has stolen the moment. Aside: feels like this version of Daniel Craig is what Harry Styles may morph into in his 50s???
Finally, I attended the 1975 Concert, and my brain chemistry is irreparably altered due to this song playing on repeat in my ol’ noggin. That’s all!!
TikTok Dumpage:
As promised, below is just a smattering of my TikTok faved/saved folder over the last week or two, and if feels criminal to gatekeep. Also, I want to reference these in my day-to-day more often, so it would help if people around me got the niche references. Study up!
This man (you may remember me referencing his half marathon beef in the second ever edition of Dropping Links) took on a new challenge: decorating his room with 500 paper bats.
This is perfect for anyone eager to have NYC apartment envy – these girls have a living room, library, AND a bar??? Wowowow
Is your FYP looking a little stale? Never fear: this man has curated the most out of pocket, upsetting, weird feed by following not a single person on TikTok, and it will make the comfort of your basic FYP feel like a warm hug once again.
I thought this account was an everyones-favorite thing because of how much my friends and I reference it, but upon showing someone the latest video and seeing her shocked face, I realized more people need to see this ~artistry~ immediately.
You can catch me expanding my daily bits with these gems 🤌
If you’re looking to be less afraid of being in your 40s, Timm Chiusano’s Brooklyn vlogs are the place to start. I have somehow gotten so attached to this man’s day-to-day that when my sister and I saw him running the NYC marathon, we screamed as if he were a long-lost sibling.
An early pandemic favorite of mine were these three inspirational dancers, and I’m elated to report they have returned with bells on.
I don’t even know this grandma, and yet I will work my whole life to be at the top of her ranking magnet board.
BYE!!!!!!!!
THAT’S ALL FOLKS! Follow Dropping Links on Instagram and Twitter if you are into that sort of thing (plz be into it)
